Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord...

1 Kings 19:11-12
So he said, "Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord,"
and behold the Lord was passing by!
And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind.
And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire;
and after the fire, a sound of a gentle blowing.

I have been living in these two verses for the past few days and I can't figure out why.

I'm sure part of it has to do with the way my heart has been yearning for the mountains. Ever sense my brother got to travel to Montana this summer (the place I got to see 4 summers ago) I have had Montana on the brain. Red Lodge and Rainbow Pass particularly.

I think another part of it stems from me wanting to find God in the strong wind or in the earthquake so badly. I don't want to be patient and listen for the gentle wind. This is because I'm impatient in nature... it's sinful, I know.

I'll continue this thought later after my "military in the news conference"
